Kanye is a jackstick...

I rather liked Kanye West when he first came on the scene. He was so cute on the Ellen show. And if you're good on Ellen, I'm a fan for life. I can't explain it, that's just how it works.

Then came that whole weird, awkward "George Bush hates black people" thing during the Katrina telethon. And while I agree that there's a whiff of truth to that statement, I don't think that was the appropriate medium for him to voice his concerns. So right there he was sort of rubbing me the wrong way. But I do love "Gold Digger" so I decided to get over it for the time being.

Now, now he's just being a jackass. At the MTV Europe Music Awards Kanye apparently threw a temper tantrum when his video lost in the "Best New Video" category. (even though he'd won two other awards that night) When the winning artist went up to the stage to receive his award, Kanye went up too and started shouting - and I quote, "Fuck this! My video cost a million dollars. Pamela Anderson was in it, I was jumping across canyons and shit! If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility. Nothing against you (Justice Vs Simian), but hell man."

And in case you thought maybe it was prearranged MTV-coordinated stunt, you'd be wrong. Here's what he said at a backstage press conference, "I haven't seen (the Justice and Simian) video. Possibly it could have been quite good, but no way better than Touch The Sky. That is complete bullshit, I paid a million. Obviously it's not all about the money, but the response it got transcended everything, it really made great TV. It took a month to film; I stood on a mountain; I flew a helicopter over Vegas. I did it to be the king of all videos and I wanted to walk home with that award. (The reason the other video won) - That was some spread the love bullshit, 'Oh everyone should have an award.' Please press people print, 'Kanye says fuck that!'"

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. You stay classy, Kanye.
