BWOT Presents: Allan’s Useless Fact of the Week

My friend Allan is sort of like that little boy in Jerry Maguire…only taller…oh, and half Asian. But I digress. The point is, he knows a lot of random facts. I thoroughly enjoy listening to him share his trivial knowledge. It makes for some interesting conversation. And because I’m a giver, I wanted to share his knowledge with the world through a new series of articles I’ll call “Allan’s Useless Fact of the Week.”

I learned this one over one-too-many Coors Light last night:

In Burt Ward's 1995 autobiography Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights, he claims to have lost his virginity to Eartha Kitt, who played Catwoman to Ward's Robin on the 1966 TV series Batman.

First, please look at the cover of his book:


I’m sorry…what? Are we talking about the same TV show? I mean, don’t get me wrong, the mask is…well, it’s a little hot. But the pale yellow tights and green banana hammock?

Not exactly lady killer material. I don’t know about you but men in tights just don’t do it for me. (in case you missed my recent post about one particular “man” in tights, click here to catch up)

Plus, this is Eartha Kitt we’re talking about. EARTHA KITT!

Eartha is fierce. And Burt Ward looked like a 15 year old choir boy. Eartha would’ve eaten him for breakfast…although maybe they were into that kind of stuff.

Describing his biography in an interview, Ward quips, “It's only for adults. In fact I have a full page warning, right in the front of the book, that no one under the age of eighteen should read this book and no one should even turn the pages if they are sexually conservative or erotically deprived.” (Click here to read the entire interview while trying not to gag.)

WHAT? This is totally weirding me out. Who IS this guy? Burt, I feel like I don't even KNOW YOU anymore.

In my humble opinion Adam West was the hottie. Maybe it’s just that his blue tights and larger “briefs” were blue and thus “manlier.”


But what do I know? Let’s take a vote!

Within a few months we were like two hungry sharks in a world of unlimited halibut. (laughter). Maybe I'm a little too harsh on Adam. Actually, to be more descriptive, he was more like a killer whale in a world of plankton. Together we had this wild time. Of course, remember, then was the 60s.”
